Fayette State Park

Visitor Center explains the history of the iron-smelting village of Fayette. A ghost town, in the 1870s and 1880s, Fayette was an active community. Explore the original hotel, company office, opera house and other buildings restored in period pieces. South of Garden on County Road 183.

Delta County Historical Museum

Artifacts from Delta County’s history including displays depicting logging, shipping and railroad industries plus a 16-foot rudder from Nahant shipwreck . Open daily June 1 to Sept. 1. Free will donations asked. Next to Sand Point Lighthouse.

Garden Peninsula Historical Museum

Former one-room schoolhouse with community history on logging, shipping, fishing, and a classroom display. Open in downtown Garden.

U.P. Steam & Gas Engine Museum

Steam and gas powered tractors and other agricultural equipment on display at the UP State Fairgrounds. Village next to museum has steam-powered sawmill. Open during U.P. State Fair in August and Labor Day weekend.

Small flat rock falls on the Rapid River. Picnic area available in county park. Located 7 miles north of Rapid River on U.S. 41.

Wildlife Viewing

Portage Point Wildlife Area

A narrow split about two miles long south of Escanaba creates protected small bay where migrating waterfowl like to stop. foot trail available along the march side. Swimming available on the opposite side.
