The Bays de Noc area is nestled in the northwoods, along 211 miles of varied shoreline, the most of any county in the continental U.S., with beautiful sand beaches, marshes and wetlands for bird and wildlife viewing and stunning limestone cliffs. We are proud to boast the most coast with our fresh bays, but our inland water is also spectacular featuring sparkling streams and lakes. Trophy sized fish are not the only thing lurking below the water’s surface--over 30 sunken ships have made our clear waters their resting place, just waiting to be explored. Most of our treasures are far from buried, with lush green forests, woodland trails and all kinds of wildlife to enjoy. Perhaps you’ll choose to take in the sights from soaring limestone cliffs, historic lighthouses, a ghost town and so much more. 

The area is comprised of three cities and towns, all situated on the shores of Little Bay de Noc – Escanaba, Gladstone and Rapid River. Little Bay de Noc begins at the northern edge of Green Bay, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We are located in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, considered the crossroads of the U.P. We are 450 miles from Detroit (although we feel like a world away), and we are merely 60 miles from the Wisconsin border—from any direction, we’re a great stop whether you are traveling by car or boat!
